The Buckeye Union High School District is proud to celebrate the outstanding achievements of our welding students who recently competed in the 2025 Welding Thunder Competition in Holbrook, Arizona. Representing Buckeye Union High School, our students showcased exceptional technical skill, leadership, and collaboration throughout this multi-day challenge.
Welding Thunder is a unique, hands-on competition that brings together welding programs from across the state. This yearβs theme, βUltimate Rocket Stove, Griddle, and Grillβ, tasked teams with designing and fabricating a fully functional device that they would ultimately use to cook a full meal on day two of the event. The competition requires not only expert fabrication, but also innovation, problem-solving, and the ability to perform under real-world conditions.

We are proud to announce that our students earned Gold and were awarded the Peopleβs Choice Award, demonstrating both exceptional craftsmanship and strong community impact. Their performance is a reflection of the high-quality Career & Technical Education opportunities available across BUHSD and the dedication of our instructors who guide and mentor students toward future career success.

These achievements remind us of the transformative power of CTE programs and the importance of providing students with pathways that build confidence, skill, and real-world readiness. We commend our students and staff for representing BUHSD with excellence and professionalism.
Congratulations to the Buckeye Union High School Welding Team on this incredible accomplishment. Your hard work and talent continue to make our district proud.
