Buckeye Union High School has once again earned national recognition as a Special Olympics Unified Champion Schools® National Banner School for the years 2025 to 2028, a prestigious honor celebrating schools that demonstrate a deep and lasting commitment to inclusion.

Originally honored in 2020 as an ESPN Top 25 Unified Champion School, BUHS continues to set the standard in creating a school culture where students with and without disabilities learn, lead, and play together every day.

National Banner status is awarded only to schools that meet rigorous criteria in three key areas:

  • Unified Sports®

  • Inclusive Youth Leadership

  • Whole-School Engagement

At Buckeye Union High School, these values are embedded in daily life through impactful programs such as Unified PE, Unified Sports, and student leadership opportunities that ensure every student has a voice and a place.

“When we commit to Unified PE, we commit to a culture where every student belongs. This is not an add-on program; Unified reflects what we value as a district,” said Dr. Bebee, Superintendent of the Buckeye Union High School District.

This achievement is a reflection of the hard work and dedication of students, staff, coaches, and community members who champion inclusion and continue to help Unified programs grow and thrive.

Buckeye Union High School will formally celebrate this milestone at an upcoming Banner Recognition Ceremony, where the entire school community will honor what it means to believe, belong, become, and be Unified.
